Milton Fletcher

1906 - 1992

Milton Fletcher was born in 1906 in Yazoo City, MS.  He moved to Shreveport, LA in 1946 to become the executive secretary of the YMCA.  During his career there, he perfected leather crafting and collected rocks.  After retirement, he pursued painting as a means of sharing scenes from his youth. Milton A. Fletcher's creative work was largely inspired by the 1920s.  The colorful oil paintings by this African American artist often have a comical and funny perspective.
