MEET THE FOLK-A-HOLIC

My name is John, and I am a Folk-A-Holic.  I am pleased to share with you, electronically, my 20 year adventure with the Outsiders living inside my house.  As you peruse the pages of this “self-taught” website of my favorite libations of craft and elixirs of ingenuity, you might find yourself thinking or saying……

“Ugh, he outbid me on that at Slotin!”

“I saw that hanging in a collector’s home….not for sale….How did he get that?”

“I am happy for him…..he has built a nice collection……I am not really that happy for him.”

“He is really weak on a particular artist. Should I help him improve? Nope, I am just happy that I have better!”

“You know, I used to own that. Why did I sell that to him?”

“I recognize that in the book by Frank and Roger.  He wasn’t even collecting then…..how did he get it?”

“I hate those Southern collectors. They don’t want to pay the New York prices.”

“No one really likes him he just gives them those damn 3D glasses.”

“I am going to cut his arm off the next time he raises his paddle.”

If you mused to yourself: yes, positive, affirmative, or Amen to 4 or more of the above thoughts, then you, too, are a Folk-A-Holic!  SEEK help immediately for your addiction by contacting your favorite artist, dealer, auction house, or art fair.  If you’re unable to get your art fix, take a deep breath, and give me a shout. I will talk, trade, sell, or get you through your weakest, innermost Outsider art moment. If things are really bad, and you are on folk-art-life-support, contact James Brett.

Please fill out the form below for any corrections or additions to an artist’s biography. I welcome comments, criticisms, or praise about the site. Of course, I would love to have you say “hello” or tell me about your “Folkaholism.”
